2014 Mercedes W204 C-Class ESL / Electronic Steering Lock Failure & Fix

A regular trade customer initially contacted us to investigate the key not activating the ignition.

After a quick investigation we diagnosed it was the ESL (electronic steering lock) that had failed.

We managed to get the steering lock to release.

This in turn means we didn’t have to fully remove the steering column from the vehicle to complete the procedure.

We removed the faulty ESL and programmed the customer a steering lock emulator.

This in effect acts exactly the same as a working electronic steering lock.

Hey presto the vehicle is now starting perfectly 👍

We also offer lifetime warranty on the steering lock emulator itself.

Mercedes ignitions, steering locks and keys are a poor design and very prone to failure.
We can re-programme & replace most ignition switches, steering locks and keys up to 2014 on passenger cars and Vitos, Sprinter vans W906 up to 2018.
